    About UVM

The University of Vermont combines faculty-student relationships most commonly found in a small liberal arts college with the resources of a major research institution. The university is home to 10,461 undergraduates, 1,490 graduate students, 452 medical students and 1,316 full- and part-time faculty. Located in Burlington, Vermont (perennially voted one of America's most exciting small cities), UVM's setting in a valley on the shores of Lake Champlain, between the Adirondack and the Green mountain ranges, inspires visitors and residents.

  • Academics

The University of Vermont is one of the nation's premier small research universities. Our size and dual teaching and research mission give students unique academic opportunities that aren't available at small schools and aren't accessible to undergraduates at large institutions. A hands-on learning approach is fundamental to our culture and courses are designed to make academic material come alive.

    Diversity

At UVM No two students are alike.
Small-town or big-city New Englanders mix with West Coast transplants; residents of urban areas and suburbs study with non-U.S. students. Each UVM student brings his or her own unique background and cultural experience. UVM enrolls students from 48 states and attracts students from more than 50 foreign countries. Our student population includes people from a variety of races, ethnicities, genders, classes, sexual orientations, abilities and religions, and we wouldn't want it any other way
