GENERAL INFORMATION
South Plains College is a comprehensive, two-year community college founded in 1957 that serves the greater South Plains area of Texas with innovative educational programs that span the arts and sciences, technical education, continuing education and workforce development. The college’s main campus is located in Levelland, Texas. SPC maintains three additional extension centers: Reese Technology Center and Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center both located in Lubbock, Texas; and an extension center in Plainview, Texas.

South Plains College provides a quality learning environment. We are a comprehensive, public, open admissions community college that primarily serves a 15-county region comprising the southern portion of the Texas High Plains. We are committed to providing learning opportunities that are high quality, accessible, flexible, and affordable through academic transfer, technical-vocational, continuing education, workforce development and community service programs. STUDENT INFORMATION
You won't find a "typical" student at South Plains College. Our students are all ages, from recent high school graduates to retired people. Some attend college full time and others part time. Many combine work with college studies. Nearly 10,000 students enroll in SPC's college-credit courses each semester and another 9,500 take advantage of continuing education short courses and workforce development programs. SPC serves more than 22,000 individuals each year.

The college’s educational program includes academic transfer courses that parallel university programs for students who plan to earn a bachelor’s degree. STUDENT LIFE
South Plains College makes a special effort to encourage a friendly and democratic atmosphere among all students, faculty, staff and administration. Student activities are planned to enhance the academic, social, cultural and spiritual interests of the student body. The college offers a variety of co-curricular experiences which assist the student in developing a rich concept of life’s potential. A varied program of activities open to all members of the student body is implemented through the coordinated programs of a number of organizations, each of which offers opportunities for the student to explore personal interests.

FINE ARTS AND CREATIVE ARTS
Fine Arts
The curricula in the Fine Arts Department are planned to provide for the educational preparation, cultural enrichment and personal fulfillment of the students and patrons of South Plains College.
Activities of the department include performances by the Symphonic Band, the Jazz Band and the Concert Choir; solo recitals; chamber music concerts; and dramatic productions. Performances are presented on the Levelland campus, and in community and school settings throughout the area.
There are frequent exhibitions in the foyer of the Fine Arts Building of faculty and student art works, as well as art produced by a variety of contemporary artists. The Fine Arts Department also houses and displays several works from the Marjorie Merriweather Post Art Collection. These paintings were donated to the college by the late Mrs. Post and include works by noted artists from the eighteenth century to the twentieth century.
Creative Arts
The Creative Arts Department offers student musicians and technicians a nationally acclaimed opportunity to participate in an array of music training and performance experiences.
The department offers four technical programs which prepare students for technical careers in the music entertainment industry and in design communications. These programs include Commercial Music, Design Communications, Sound Technology, and Video Production Technology.
Each semester students in the Creative Arts Department perform with various ensembles including Picking on the Plains, Alterna TV Country Jukebox, and Thursday Nite Live

South Plains College is home to the Texans and Lady Texans and offers the following sports for men and women:
