    Student Life

Whether you live in a campus residence hall with a spacious room and private bath, or nearby in the village, you are part of a close, active, academic community. Should we mention the great food? And even better, there is always something going on here to support the classroom experience—film festivals, cultural events, lectures from visiting scholars, poetry slams, and comedy nights to name a few. Local resorts host regular concerts and performances too. There are clubs for sustainability, golf, dance, climbing, and you are welcome to start your own. Organized student activities include hikes, bike rides, beach outings, and trips to nearby attractions like San Francisco and Yosemite. Reno’s international airport, shopping, and nightlife are only 35 miles away.

    Athletics

One of the most successful college athletic programs in the nation, the women’s and men’s ski, snowboard, and freestyle teams dominate their field.

The ski team is a 19-time USCSA National Champion, while the snowboard team has won the title 6 years running. But not everyone here is a World Cup skier. In fact, you will find a wide spectrum of athletic abilities and interests. From rock climbers featured in National Geographic to our faculty versus student softball games, there is something for everyone. Intramural and club teams, mountain bike trails, and all the water sports Lake Tahoe has to offer are at your doorstep.

Students are provided with a membership to the award-winning Incline Recreation Center. It offers extensive cardiovascular facilities, an indoor pool, basketball courts, and aerobic classes. Additionally, there are championship golf courses and a tennis center. Go play.
