UNCF MERCK Science Research Scholarships and Fellowships

The UNCF Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship Awards are intended to help African American undergraduate students who are interested in science to further their science education and potentially pursue science careers.

Catharine Lealtad Scholarships

Catharine Lealtad Scholarships are awarded to African American, Latino, and Native American students who have a strong high school record.

Surety Industry Scholarship Program for Minority Students

Catharine Lealtad Scholarships are awarded to African American, Latino, and Native American students who have a strong high school record. Established in 2003, the Surety Industry Scholarship Program provides awards of up to $2,500 to outstanding minority students to support their studies in the areas of insurance/risk management, accounting, or business/finance and to encourage their consideration of the surety industry and surety underwriting as a career choice. This program is administered by The Surety Foundation, the educational arm of The Surety & Fidelity Association of America (SFAA).

Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship Program

Xerox is committed to the academic success of all minority students. That’s why we offer a Technical Minority Scholarship that awards between $1,000 and $10,000 to qualified minorities enrolled in a technical degree program at the bachelor level or above.

ACS Scholars Program

ACS awards renewable scholarships to underrepresented minority students who want to enter the fields of chemistry or chemistry-related fields. Awards of up to $5,000* are given to qualified students. African American, Hispanic, or American Indian high school seniors or college freshman, sophomores, or juniors pursuing a college degree in the chemical sciences or chemical technology are eligible to apply.

Through its Education and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $7,500 annually to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice.

Project Excellence Scholarships

The following is an exclusive list of scholarships for African American students.

American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Scholarships (AICPA)

The AICPA Minority Scholarship awards outstanding minority students to encourage their selection of accounting as a major and their ultimate entry into the profession. Funding is provided by the AICPA Foundation, with contributions from the New Jersey Society of CPAs and Robert Half International. For four decades, this program has provided over $14.6 million in scholarships to approximately 8,000 accounting scholars.

Bonner Scholar Scholarships

Since the Bonner Scholars Program was piloted at Berea College in 1990-91, the Foundation has worked with colleges and universities to support students to attend college and to be active and involved in community service while in school. In the first few years, an initial group of schools were identified to participate in this service-based scholarship program. The Bonner Scholars Program now operates on 24 campuses and supports 1,500 students annually to be actively involved in community service and social justice issues. Each school supports a director and a coordinator who oversee the general operations of the Bonner Program and has between 30 and 100 Bonner Scholars.

ABA Diversity Scholarship

For deserving students who demonstrate scholastic ability, leadership, character, diversity, and the potential to be future leaders in the transportation, travel, and tourism industry.

Association on American Indian Affairs

The Association on American Indian Affairs offers Adolph Van Pelt Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 to students in any curriculum. Disbursement in the amount of $750 is made directly to the college fall and spring semesters pending satisfactory progress. Spring disbursement requires a copy of the fall semester's grades and a spring semester class schedule. This scholarship does not automatically renew. Students are eligible to apply on a yearly basis.

African American Jewish Coalition for Justice Minority Scholarship

Named for the African American Jewish Coalition’s founding Treasurer, June Chaus, an annual scholarship of up to $1,500 is awarded to minority students, with preference extended to members of the African American and Jewish communities. The goal of the June R. Chaus Scholarship is to assist students who are committed to working for social justice, and who may have been disadvantaged due to race, ethnicity, national background, religious affiliation or sexual orientation. Students who have been inspired to work for constructive social change due to one or more of the above factors are also welcome to apply.

Development Fund for Black Students in Science and Technology

The Development Fund for Black Students in Science and Technology (DFBSST) is an endowment fund which provides scholarships to African-American undergraduate students who enroll in scientific or technical fields of study at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

National Achievement Scholarship Program

The National Achievement® Scholarship Program is an academic competition established in 1964 to provide recognition for outstanding Black American high school students. Black students may enter both the National Achievement Program and the National Merit® Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) and meeting other published requirements for participation. The two annual programs are conducted concurrently but operated and funded separately. A student's standing is determined independently in each program. Black American students can qualify for recognition and be honored as Scholars in both the National Merit Program and the National Achievement Program, but can receive only one monetary award from NMSC.

William B. Ruggles Right to Work Journalism Scholarship

The William B. Ruggles Right to Work Scholarship honors the esteemed Texas journalist who coined the phrase "Right to Work" and contributed greatly to the movement's advancement. A $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to the student who exemplifies the dedication to principle and high journalistic standards of the late Mr. Ruggles

Coca Cola Scholars Program

The Coca−Cola Scholars Foundation supports over 1,400 college students each year, with annual scholarships of $3.4 million through two nationally recognized programs on behalf of the Coca−Cola System. AWG Minority Scholarship

This new program encourages young minority women to pursue an education and later a career in the geosciences. It provides financial aid and matches the student with a mentor in the same field who will offer guidance and support. This exchange will enhance the student’s experience and provide a view of the world ahead.
