Mission of IUPUI
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), a partnership between Indiana and Purdue Universities, is Indiana's urban research and academic health sciences campus. IUPUI's mission is to advance the State of Indiana and the intellectual growth of its citizens to the highest levels nationally and internationally through research and creative activity, teaching and learning, and civic engagement. The Campus Center opened in January 2008 and hosted 6,147 events during its first year.

The Office of Student Involvement hired the first Coordinator of

Fraternity & Sorority Life in June 2008 to work with the existing 13 fraternity and sorority chapters and further support the growing
Greek community at IUPUI.

For the second consecutive year, campus housing opened at full capacity in the fall 2008 semester with approximately 1,100 students.

More than 740 students were seen at CAPS for more than 4300 counseling or assessment sessions.

The Office of Student Involvement sponsored over 19 leadership development programs, reaching over 300 students, faculty, and staff.

45 students faculty, staff, and community partners participated in the "To Mexico with Love" program in Cuernavaca, Mexico providing 960 person-hours of service and serving 110 children and dozens of patients at Henri Dunant Hospital and its sister Red Cross emergency service location.

Over 1,570 volunteers took part in 41 different service/civic engagement activities for a total of 9,519 service hours in the community.

IUPUI Democracy Plaza was the 2008 Gold Award Winner of the NASPA Excellence Award, category of "Careers, Academic Support, Service Learning, Community Service and related."

IUPUI has over 45 different study abroad programs and you can also participate in programs through other IU campuses and receive direct IU credit.
As an IUPUI student, you also have the option of studying abroad through other accredited universities with pre-approval from our office.
